It has to be back to late March for why I decided
to take FRM, got my notes and had my revision all within a month...
An (not) important person announced that he was no long
single and this broke my heart.... To recover.. some choose to focus on work,
some indulge themselves in gym room, and I ... chose to take a professional
exam.. Given the huge financial cost, there is no turning back; and with such a
definite deadline, I had no choice but study. And it works. I got my exam passed (Im Deutsch -
und einem Mann vergessen. Dass ist zu gut fur mich!! )
Here is the timeline of my FRM journey:
(My background - I studied business in high school
and university. And I passed both CFA level 1 & 2. While reading the
syllabus of FRM Part1, it came to me that 1/4 of it is very similar to
the Econometric + Math & Stat that I studied before; and another 1/4
is similar to CFA syllabus. That's why I decided to take this risk - thou I
found I under-estimate how deep and advanced FRM Part1 actually is.)
Early Apr - heart broken
12 Apr - check the syllabus and weighting; decide
to take P1 or P1+P2
14 Apr - paid and registered for P1. Got my notes
printed. Started the revision
14 Apr - 20 May
I did not take any company leave for exam even I
know some people do. I revised during lunch break, afterwork and weekends. I
declined most dinner appointments during the month so basically I have around
2-3 weekdays / week to study from 7pm - 1am.
For weekends, I usually found a cafe / study
room to study from 11am-5pm, cause my bed is a huge temptation.
21 May - Exam day
Result - Got a marginal pass :P And gonna study
HARD for P2 in Nov! My friend is shocked at the result and said I am good at taking exam. I am not going to deny that indeed.
