Lunchtime

FRM Part1

It has to be back to late March for why I decided to take FRM, got my notes and had my revision all within a month...

An (not) important person announced that he was no long single and this broke my heart.... To recover.. some choose to focus on work, some indulge themselves in gym room, and I ... chose to take a professional exam.. Given the huge financial cost, there is no turning back; and with such a definite deadline, I had no choice but study. And it works. I got my exam passed (Im Deutsch - und einem Mann vergessen. Dass ist zu gut fur mich!! )

Here is the timeline of my FRM journey:
(My background - I studied business in high school and university. And I passed both CFA level 1 & 2. While reading the syllabus of FRM Part1, it came to me that 1/4 of it is very similar to the Econometric + Math & Stat that I studied before; and another 1/4 is similar to CFA syllabus. That's why I decided to take this risk - thou I found I under-estimate how deep and advanced FRM Part1 actually is.)

Early Apr - heart broken
12 Apr - check the syllabus and weighting; decide to take P1 or P1+P2
14 Apr - paid and registered for P1. Got my notes printed. Started the revision
14 Apr - 20 May
I did not take any company leave for exam even I know some people do. I revised during lunch break, afterwork and weekends. I declined most dinner appointments during the month so basically I have around 2-3 weekdays / week to study from 7pm - 1am.
For weekends, I usually found a cafe / study room to study from 11am-5pm, cause my bed is a huge temptation.
21 May - Exam day

Result - Got a marginal pass :P And gonna study HARD for P2 in Nov! My friend is shocked at the result and said I am good at taking exam. I am not going to deny that indeed.

Human of Hong Kong

I am still deeply touched by a little story encountered yesterday, just want to record it down when my memory is still fresh.

I was in charge of a trade fair and hired a few temporary staff as promoters. The 4 girls I hired are all post-90s (90 ), a group that may be labelled by the general public.  Soon, I found that one girl was quite quiet and not too proactive in asking the buyers to visit to our booth. But one little thing she did really touched me, and it makes me understand everyone has their strength to shine.

An old man came to our booth and approached the girl. He started talking to the girl about his inventions, which I guessed this from his gesture. First for 10 minutes, then for another 10 minutes. He kept talking and the girl could only smile, listen and nod. I noticed that and wanted to help the girl. So I came near the girl and asked if she needed a toilet break.

She rejected my offer.

While I was wondering why she could not get the hidden purpose of my offer, another 25 minutes passed and finally the old man had finished all he wanted to share and left the booth. So I asked the girl, what is his invention about?

The girl said she did not know.

The old man was speaking in a Chinese dialect and I thought the girl understand. The girl said she could not understand even one single word he spoke, but she just wanted to be there and let the old man know that someone is listening his story.

As an extremely inpatient person, you don't know how touched I felt when I heard her response. The girl is younger than me but she really got the characteristics I appreciate. J

龜Look
